This wooded acreage is surrounded by economically-disadvantaged and low-income families that live in trailer home parks and apartments.  Several of the youth are at-risk, and there are no other parks available nearby for these youth to explore and play.  We are working very hard to prepare the ground for the installation of playground equipment.  During Phase I, we have installed a basketball goal, a volleyball net, and a funnel ball goal.  During Phase II, we will install additional playground equipment as funds allow.  We are seeking funds to assist with this project, and the renovation of the Community Center.  Our goal is to assist the community in providing hands-on education, recreation, management and conservation opportunities for at-risk youth and their families who would not otherwise have the chance to learn about, explore and enjoy our natural and cultural resources.  The name of our park is called, Redemption Community Nature Park (RCNP), and this project is entitled, Camp Culture and Communities.  We will work in partnership with other programs to offer the best quality hands-on education in managing and conserving our natural and cultural resources in Texas.  These partnerships will include, but are not limited to, Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Urban Outdoor Program, Nature Heritage Society, The Boy and Girl Scouts of America, Greater Houston Off Road Biking Association and The First Metropolitan Women and Men’s Group.  We desire additional partners that share our passion for these youth and their families.
