Visions of the Future

In partnership with Harris County, Redemption Community Development Corporation (RCDC) purchased 15.6 acres of land in the Greenspoint community to build the Community Center. Our goal is to assist these families in improving their quality of life through education and life-skills training.

Future Community Center
• RCDC is fully committed to serving communities with special emphasis upon families
• Partnerships with Schools
• Community Programs
• GED, ESL
• Recreational Activities
• Supportive Guidance and Counseling

According to the recent Children at Risk Indicators of Harris County, 53.9% of children live near poverty. The Advisory Committee on Student Financial Aid indicates that college participation by students from lower income households continue to lag behind the number of students from middle to upper income households. Moreover, the dropout rate continues to increase among students from lower income households. “Human Capital” has become the critical economic resource and education is the single most important determinant of a person’s ability to earn enough to support a family. As you have probably concluded, poverty is closely linked to the school drop-out rate and a student’s participation in higher education.
